Vendor selection

Vendor selection is an important part of the procurement process which is often overlooked in favour of simply selecting the gauge maker who supplied the last set of fixtures, or taking the cheapest of two or three quotes (at a stage where specifications are vague and many critical requirements are yet to be defined). Despite increasing pressures on cost, initial selection decisions must be based on the capability of the vendor to deliver. Once capability has been established, costs can then be negotiated.
