EMS Documentation |
There is a need to have operational procedures to control those operations and activities associated with the identified significant environmental aspects of the company, and where the lack of a procedure could lead to deviations from the policy requirements. An example of this would be if a company had a commitment to reduce energy consumption - procedures would be put into place to ensure that energy consumption was monitored on a regularly basis, and that purchase procedures were amended to give priority to energy efficient equipment. Examples of operational procedures that may be required:
Significant Impact |
Operational Procedure |
Oil contaminated rainwater run-off from site discharged into surface waters |

Waste Storage and Disposal |
Drums of chemicals stored in unbunded store, and not segregated from waste chemicals |
Storage of Chemicals |
Purchase large quantities of chemical substances |
Raw Materials Assessment |
Large quantities of VOCs discharged to atmosphere |
