Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
Level 5
Documentation
Unit 7
The Verification/Certification Process

Minutes of the review meeting must be kept as documentary evidence that the review took place. The minutes should contain a statement explaining if the review was conducted because of a problem, i.e. an environmental incident, or if it was just routine. The published minutes should present the findings and recommendations of the review, along with responsibilities for completing tasks and implementing necessary corrective actions. The minutes should then be distributed to all members of the management review meeting. The improvements achieved will be assessed at the next review meeting. Regular reviews of the management system can identify where the EMS can be improved and help maintain the programme of continued improvement in environmental performance.
