3.9 Preparing a Presentation for Employees


Follow the steps below to prepare your presentations or awareness raising sessions to employees and on-site contractors.


Preparing the presentation


Firstly, group employees within your company to get an idea of the number of sessions you should run. Each session should not contain more than 12 employees and should take about 20 minutes. Then follow the step-by-step guide to preparing the presentation. Try and group employees in groups of 12. It doesnüt matter if there some groups consisting of 13.

The Step by-Step Approach to Planning an EMS Raising Awarenessü Presentation to all employees


  1. Give the presentation a relevant title that will catch the attention of employees.

  2. Start by telling them the environmental impacts of the company, and/or raising their awareness of global and local environmental issues.

  3. Next, explain why the company has decided to implement an EMS, and outline the main actions that need be to undertaken to achieve certification/registration to ISO 14001 or EMAS.

  4. Then explain why this is the best option and the benefits of an EMS.

  5. Finally, disseminate the company's environmental policy, and ask for suggestions on improving the companyüs environmental performance.
