The simplest method is that from specialised bibliography. This method has two main limitations: due to the high cost there are few available characterisations and small changes in composition or manufacturing process introduces great changes in the fatigue behaviour.
The next step is to use mathematical approximations from a static characterisation. The accuracy is higher, but may be not enough. There are many methods that work in this way, the most important are the ones shown in the text.
