Teachers' Guide: Advice On Using The Factory

The factory can be used in various ways; as a source of case study work, as a summary having finished a particular topic or subject area or as a stand-alone guide to each major business function. Pages 4 - 8 give a full listing of all topics covered in each section of the factory. These pages also give information about the worksheets and questions available in each section.

The on-screen worksheets, photos and questions and further work pages have just the relevant questions. If you want a version for use in the classroom with lines and blank tables for filling in, there are also printable versions of each of these resources. To get to the printable version simply click on the link or the printer icon Printable Version Icon at the top of each page.

Wherever ballooning jargon is used in the factory, there is always a link to the glossary. To look up a particular word in the glossary simply click on the glossary icon Glossary Icon.

When having a go at the questions, whether in worksheets or photos and questions sections, students should be encouraged first of all to have browsed through the relevant explanation and theory sections of the factory floor. They should also perhaps have done the relevant sections of the photo tour of the factory to get a feel for the way balloons are produced. Most important of all though students should be encouraged to always think about the particular situation of Cameron Balloons. They should always apply the theory they have learnt to this particular situation. Producing balloons is a very different activity to many they will have come across before, and they need to be aware of this.
