Unit 2:  The Legal System Within The UK

2.2.2  Access to Land

The Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992, following the recommendations of the Law Commission (Find and read: Law Commission Report No.151). An application can be made to the court in order to gain access to undertake certain works on land that would normally be a nuisance. This is only on the premise that the works undertaken are for the benefit of preserving the land. Access orders need to be registered beneath the Land Charges Act 1972 (it would be useful for you to look up the Land Registration Act 1925 here). The effectiveness of the enforcement of environmental law is reviewed within Unit 7.
