Regulations have now been implemented to set minimum standards for constructing silage, slurry and agricultural fuel oil stores. The Control of Pollution (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) regulations 1991 enable the Environment Agency to ensure that farmers improve any existing installations where there is a high probability of surface water pollution.
