Unit 7: Environmental Law And The Environmental Management System |
7.3.1 Compiling a Register of Applicable Environmental Legislation as Part of An EMS The following clause (4.3.2 Legal and Other requirements) from the ISO14001 standard requires that the: |
|
organisation shall establish and maintain a procedure to identify and have access to legal and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes, that are applicable to the environmental aspects of its activities, products or services. | |
Perhaps the most effective means by which a company can keep up to date and ensure that they are complying with environmental legislation is through the design and maintenance of a Register of Applicable Environmental Regulations. This will not only form part of an EMS that is compliant with the ISO 14001/EMAS standards but will also ensure peace of mind. |
