Differential (Transfer Gearbox)
In every dual-track vehicle with consisting of one driving unit, the driving torque has to be divided on both wheels of the driven axle. Additionally, in multi-axle drives, it is required to distribute the torque on the driven axles. When the vehicle is in motion, differences in road layout and speeds between the wheels of an axle or of the driven axles are encountered. As a result of this, the possibility of speed equalization should be available when distributing the torque. Both these tasks, i.e., torque distribution as well as speed equalization are taken over by the differential. The differentials used in automobiles can be classified into:
Bevel-gear differentials,
Spur-gear planetary differentials.
