Braking on Roads with Lanes of Differing Coefficients of Friction (μ-split)
→Braking on roads leads to differing braking forces on two sides of the vehicle.
→Formation of a yaw moment as a result – vehicle spins in the direction of the road side which has a better co-efficient of friction.
→This tendency of the vehicle to spin can be compensated by an opposing couple consisting of a side force on the front axle and another equal side force on the rear axle acting in the opposite direction.
