Roll Centre
The figure shows various forces acting on a vehicle with a double wishbone suspension along with the additional forces acting at the tire contact centres during cornering.
→Lateral acceleration and therefore wheel-load differences and roll angle are assumed to be insignificant.
→The resultant forces acting additionally at the tire contact centers during cornering (wheel-specific suspension forces assumed) can only be directed towards the instantaneous axes of rotation (or instantaneous centers).
→For small wheel load differences, lateral forces are of same magnitude and act on the body at the virtual point K. The vertical components at tire contact centres cancel out.
