Drivetrain Layouts
There are generally three possibilities to transfer the driving power on to the road:
Rear-wheel drive (RWD),
Front-wheel drive (FWD),
All-wheel drive (AWD).
The two-axle motor vehicle forms the basis for the description of the drivetrain concepts. The possible drivetrain layouts in commercial vehicles with more than two axles, can generally be assigned to one of the three basic concepts of the two-axle vehicle.
