In the table some real insulator examples can be seen. The spring function (k) and shock absorber (c) can be included in the same element (rubber) or in independent elements, as it is the case with the suspension system in an automobile. The materials that can make these functions of spring/damper are:
Rubbers: Sharp and compression.
Metallic bands: Torsion.
Helical wharves: Traction/compression.
Fluid and air: Compression.
In each case, it is important to define the constant of rigidity of the insulator and the mass of the system to isolate in order to ensure that the frequency of the resulting resonance is kept well below the operating frequency.
