The characterisation results are shown here for two different material characterisations performed at CIDAUT with the methodology described earlier.

The left figure represents characteristic curves of a metallic material, a high strength steel. Curves at 3 different velocities (50 mm/min - quasistatic -, 1 m/s and 3 m/s) have been obtained, and it clearly shows the increment in the material stiffness when the speed is raised (stress increment of about 25% between dynamic and static curves).
The figure on the right shows the behaviour curves obtained with samples of plastic material, tested at velocities of 50 mm/min (quasistatic) and 1 m/s. Again, the influence of velocity in material stiffening is evident. In this case it is evident that this effect is stronger than the one on metallic materials presented before. It is also feasible to check the reduction in elongation due to the effect of velocity.
