The course objective is to show how materials are characterised from a vibro-acoustic point of view. Materials characterisation is an important task of behaviour simulation process of a piece.

The present course is structured as follow:
At first, a classification about materials employed in vibration and acoustic applications is presented.
Then, the main properties that characterise this type of material behaviour are showed.
Finally, a taxonomy of characterisation methods is presented.
