MEASURING EQUIPMENT EFFECTIVENESS
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) can be measured using
the formula:
A high level of effectiveness can be achieved only when all three rates are high.
For example, a company has measured its rates as follows:
Availability = 85% : Performance = 95% : Quality = 91%
The above rates may not seem too bad, but look what the overall figure is:
OEE = A x P x Q = 85% x 95% x 91% = 73.5%
It can be seen that to achieve
a high OEE requires excellent rates in all three elements!
A world class standard would be OEE greater than 85% |
