According to the EC standard ECE-R 83/02, the driving cycle is also includes an upper speed range. The new EC driving cycle (NEFZ) therefore consists of two parts (see figure). In this case the constant drives are dropped.
As before, the first part consists of 4 ECE-city-driving cycles. It is started with a cold engine. Only 40 s are available for the warm-up phase. Part 2 (outer city driving cycle) consists of 13 phases and results in a cycle length of 6.955 km (4.32 miles) and a test duration of 400 seconds with a resulting average speed of 56.9 km/h (35.36 mph). The cycle has a total length of 11.007 km (6.8 miles) with a duration of 1220 s, at an average speed of 32.5 km/h (20.2 mph).
The values determined according to the new EC standard are generally about 10% above the old DIN-values.
The fuel consumption for commercial vehicles are determined according to the DIN standard 70030. The indicated value refers to the fuel consumption of the half-loaded vehicle at a constant speed dependent on the vehicle. The speed is indicated as well.
