Influence on the Environment
Similar to the characteristic curve of low consumption, every reciprocating engine also shows characteristic curves of low exhaust emission. In order to follow these characteristics, the transmission has to also operate as far as possible along a continuously variable characteristic with a large range of ratios.
The different transmission types differ only slightly in their noise behavior. Only the hydrostatic transmission tuned for high performance is generally very loud.
The possibility to lower the engine's noise emissions by following a noise-optimized control line, represents an advantage for CVTs. The hydrostatic transmission is an exception here since its noise emission is too high.
