When the fatigue characterisation of one material is going to start, there is no knowledge about its behaviour, so we do not know the strain level for the test. From the results obtained in a static test is possible to get the starting point for the characterisation.
The tensile static tests are made by fixing both sides of the specimen and increasing the tensile load until failure. The axial force and strain data obtained during the test allow us to obtain the stress strain curve. From this curve it is possible to obtain the mechanical characteristics for the material behaviour: Young´s modulus and yield point.
