Digital Processing and Communications

Modern computing and communications requires the use of digital signals for processing and transmission. These are strings of pulses with typical frequencies (clock rates) of hundreds of MHz. The rise and fall times of these signals can be very short, of the order of nanoseconds.

These fast transitions generate high frequency fields which can couple to adjacent circuits causing electromagnetic interference.
