The effect of the previously described cornering light can be achieved using a special headlamp developed by Bosch. This headlamp is able to fulfill the differing demands for a variable light distribution. Apart from the cornering light, this includes a larger high-beam range on highways and a wider side-ward illumination in cities. The headlamp consists of several individual reflectors. The sensors, which consist of gyroscopic angular acceleration and rotational angle sensors, identify the instantaneous driving condition of the vehicle based on a combination of vehicle velocity and GPS and regulate the transition between the differing requirements of light distribution by smooth dimming.
