Capability Exercise (4)

The last part of this exercise covers the calculations for Cpk, using several of the values that we have already calculated.

Because of the nature of Cpk, we need to calculate two separate values (sometimes referred to as CPU and CPL). These represent the process capability with respect to the upper and lower tolerance limits respectively. The smaller of the two values is the one that is used for Cpk.

The first step is to calculate the distance from the upper and lower tolerance limits to the process mean. As you can see below, there are two figures to calculate, UTL - X-bar and X-bar - LTL. Enter these two values in the boxes outlined in red, and then click the button to check your answers.
