As noted above, the grand mean and mean range are used as the centre lines for the two graphs on a Mean & Range chart. Having calculated these values, it's now time to transfer this information to your printed chart.

Throughout this course, we use colour to identify the different lines on a control chart:

However, if you are working in black and white only, it is conventional to draw the centre line as a dashed line, and the control limits as solid lines.

Add the two lines to your chart, as either dashed or blue lines. When you have done this, check your printed chart against the example version, and if necessary, correct any errors before moving on.
