How to Prepare a Mean & Range Chart

In this unit we will be looking at how to prepare a Mean & Range ( & R) Chart for use in the workplace. On completion of the unit, you will be able to:

• calculate correctly the grand mean and upper and lower control limits for the graph, using the appropriate formulae
• calculate correctly the mean range and upper and lower control limits for R graph, applying the appropriate formulae
• record this information both graphically and numerically on the plotted chart
• calculate the capability of the process in terms of both Cp and Cpk values

This module should take about 50 minutes to complete.
