Cpk is a long-term or on-going measure of actual process performance. Like Cp, it is calculated from data gathered over a considerable time frame to ensure that all common causes of variation are included.
Unlike Cp, however, Cpk can show process location in relation to the customer target (or nominal). Cpk, therefore reflects specification limits, process spread, and process location.
