Role

To effectively manage your time, you must establish what effectiveness means to your job.

• What results are you expected to achieve?
• What contributions are you expected to make to achieve company and department objectives?
• What are the role and responsibilities your job contains?

The role of a job is a description of the overall purpose of the position. It describes generally the organisation's expectations of the contributions provided by the job. It is a broad brush painting, from which details will later be drawn.

As an example, a Buyer might describe their Role as:

"To purchase specified items from the right source at the right quantity, quality, timing and cost".

Now, think of a description of what the role of your job is, and write it down in a sheet of paper.
