Monitoring Air Pollution

Summary Checklist

  • The site must maintain an inventory of all emissions to air
  • All the points of release of emissions need to be identified
  • All necessary authorisation must have been applied for
  • A system must be in place to make sure that atmospheric emissions are correctly dealt with
  • All emissions found to exceed the standards need to be investigated further
  • All fugitive emissions must be arising from, for example leaks, spills and unlidded containers need to be investigated and subsequent action taken.
  • All incidences and complaints need to be dealt with.

EXERCISE

Design an atmospheric emissions survey for your site.

Hint:  as a first step, using the table provided, attempt to fill in (as far as possible) an air emissions inventory for your site
