The site where samples are to be collected from needs to be carefully selected in order to attain representative samples. The following should be considered:

• Accessibility
• Protection from vandalism and weather (particularly extreme weather)
• Height of the sampling device
• Turbulence effects from structures in the vicinity such as buildings and trees
